Work Setting: Field-Based / In-Office
About the Role
Global IT Communications is looking for a hands-on Network & Systems Administrator who enjoys troubleshooting technology and working directly with clients.
This is a field-focused role. You’ll regularly travel to client locations to troubleshoot network, systems, hardware, and connectivity issues and serve as Global IT’s boots-on-the-ground technical resource. When you’re not dispatched to a client site, you’ll work from our Whittier office providing remote support, handling service tickets and calls, and assisting with systems and network administration.
A company vehicle is available from our Whittier office for authorized client-site travel.
What You’ll Do
- Travel to client sites, primarily between Whittier and Orange County, to provide hands-on technical support.
- Troubleshoot network, server, workstation, hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Install, configure, replace, and support switches, firewalls, wireless access points, routers, workstations, printers, and other technology.
- Troubleshoot LAN/WAN, VLAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and wireless networking issues.
- Support Windows desktops, Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and user access.
- Troubleshoot Layer 1 and Layer 2 network issues and assist senior engineers with more advanced infrastructure problems.
- Provide remote support and handle service tickets and client calls when not dispatched.
- Document troubleshooting, configuration changes, findings, and resolutions.
- Coordinate with Global IT engineers, cybersecurity personnel, vendors, and client contacts when escalation is needed.
- Follow company security, change-management, and client compliance requirements, including HIPAA, PCI DSS, and CMMC where applicable.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years of hands-on IT support, systems administration, network administration, or similar experience.
- Strong networking fundamentals and practical troubleshooting ability.
- Experience with switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPNs, wireless networks, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, and LAN/WAN environments.
- Experience supporting Windows, Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365.
- Strong hardware and endpoint troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to independently diagnose technical problems and know when to escalate.
- Excellent communication, customer-service, and documentation skills.
- Comfortable working independently at client locations and collaboratively with a technical team.
- Valid California driver’s license and ability to maintain a driving record that meets company and applicable insurance requirements for operating a company vehicle.
- Ability and willingness to safely operate a company vehicle for business travel to client sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- CCNA certification or equivalent networking knowledge strongly preferred.
- CompTIA Network+ or Security+.
- Previous MSP experience.
- Experience with RMM, EDR/MDR, endpoint management, and ticketing platforms.
- Experience supporting healthcare, manufacturing, or other regulated environments is a plus.
- Experience with structured or low-voltage cabling is helpful.
What Success Looks Like
You’re someone who can arrive at a client site, assess the situation, troubleshoot methodically, communicate confidently with the client, and either resolve the issue or know when to bring in additional engineering resources.
You take ownership of your work, document what you do, and provide the same level of professionalism whether you’re troubleshooting a switch at a client site or answering a support call from the office.
Work & Travel
This position is based from our Whittier office and requires regular travel to client locations, primarily throughout Whittier and Orange County.
A company vehicle is available for authorized business travel. Because driving is an essential function of the position, employees must maintain a valid California driver’s license and remain eligible to operate a company vehicle under company and applicable insurance requirements.
Occasional after-hours, weekend, or holiday support may be required based on client and business needs.
Growth at Global IT
We encourage continued technical development and professional certifications. This role provides a pathway to deepen your expertise in networking, systems infrastructure, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and senior engineering as you grow with Global IT.
Compensation: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
